Appearance

He is a dusky-skinned gentleman past his glory years, a neatly kept individual in gold-rimmed glasses in a classic thin-wire rounded shape. His descent is clearly Arab, and his neatly ordered features hold the clear and wise expression of those who have seen much pain and learned the darkest truths of mankind’s cruelty. Beneath his dark brown eyes slopes a still handsome nose and lip clear of hair. Only his chin bears a carefully trimmed beard, its hairs grayed with mounting years. His head is nearly completely bald, but the look suits him rather than detracts from his appearance, giving him almost a monkish look, though he is no former cloistered soul.

The man’s attire is as neatly kept as his features, though the brown suit-vest, tie, and formal shirt are badly creased with wear. He wears tailored and comfortable hazelnut hued pants, the kind more often worn by professional physicians than businessmen. Beneath the clothing he is clearly a thin man, worn by mistreatment and lack of nutrition. Still, the Afghani individual is strong eyed and stands tall, showing little of the weakness of his former condition. His dark gaze is often bright with hidden friendliness, though there is always a sadness about him, like the ghost of a man who is uncertain why he still lives, but is nevertheless grateful for it.

Personality

Yinsen is a loyal physician, one who cannot reject any person who comes to him in pain or sickness. He is a man who has seen too much death, a sorrowful individual who mourns the death of his wife and children, but cannot find it in their memory to give up on life and those who still require medical aid and comfort. It is therefore not surprising that Yinsen is an individual who does not give up, nor allows others to do so.

He is a fatherly archetype, the proverbial adoptive personality that sees all younger generations as children to be looked after, their well-being a source of his concern even if they do not resemble his own lost sons and daughter. Yinsen is strong, but also fragile, a man torn by the death of his family but also clinging to life through the strictures of his profession. There is a bountiful need in him to help, a need driven by a deep-rooted belief in being better than the ones who have destroyed his life.
